Ranger Guidelines - Treasure Coast Challenge Cup

1. Rangers should be female members from the host club.

2. Rangers should be provided with a schedule of matches & players, know the pin placement for the day & should carry a cell phone in case of emergency or a ruling is needed.

3. Rangers should escort teams directly to their starting holes, and if necessary, direct players to the club house in case of inclement weather.

4. The following pace of play rule is in effect should any match be out of position if it reaches:

A) the tee of a par 3 hole & the preceding match has cleared the green, or
B) the tee of a par 4 hole & the green is clear, or
C) the tee of a par 5 hole & the preceding Match is on the green.
Players now have 1 hole to regain their position.
If the players fall behind for more than 1 hole, the ranger must follow these guidelines to help players regain their proper place on the course.

5. If a ranger is called by a group reporting slow play, she should approach the "slow" group & apprise them they are behind & must speed up & abide by "set guidelines."

6. All play must stop after 4 1/2 hours of play. Each group should have first ball in the air by stated shotgun start & should leave the course by the end of the allotted time. Note if any group continues after this time, inform the captains of the violations.

7. Rangers are not Rules Persons and should not be consulted on rules issues. Refer any rules questions to the Rules Person listed in the handbook.

Recommendations for Rangers During Matches:

1.Remain out of sight & inconspicuous during the matches. As players prepare to play a shot, Rangers should be out of the players vision.

2.Remain neutral & friendly and do not engage in conversation with players.

3.Rangers should follow 4/5 groups to insure they are aware of who is "out of position" & when & how they regain that position. Be sure groups are keeping pace. If a group falls behind, make a note to report to captains.
